‘s Middags brengt Nu’u me zelfs een matras (“maybe you want to take a nap?”), en de dag kabbelt voorbij. Dit is Samoa. Heerlijk.

Samoan Security!!!

... We landed in Samoa, no problem. Then they decided to get us off the plane and we were told to leave our hand luggage on board as we would keep the same seats etc and some new people would get on board. No worries we said!

We then had to go into the ….. erm….. shack……. erm….. terminal to go through passport control again, security again ...

Deep Fried Paradise: Savai'i Island

... ocean (note: it was really cool to watch the clouds and ocean change as a storm brewed and began miles away, working its way nearer to me) but all I can think of is the giant monster crab who kept me up all night with it's clicking claws and my fear of being its dinner. I never saw the crab again. I really want to know....where did it go?!...... 0_o That's my Halloween story from Savai'i, enjoy the pictures - they also have more story to tell. Lots of love, K

... our lunch in the resort restaurant we overheard a Swedish guy from Stockholm complaining about the room service not being good and cleaners not speaking English. And how on the airport the currency exchange booth didn't have enough cash to exhange their thousands and thousands of Swedish krone to Samoan talas..! Some people have a different attitude to travel and we are quite happy not to have that attitude - for sure we enjoy our budget ...

Castaway, no food no fale no fun

... been a fairly miserable Sunday spent in Matareva, despite the coconuts and the beach... We packed out bags, left the money on the reception table with our keys and hiked to the village at 6.30 am. There was a lot of activity in the village and people were all dressed in white for church. Our "plan" was to try to hitch a ride to the next fales, maybe 15 km away. After a 45 min morning walk we met a teacher who was more than happy to help us out - she called her ...

Finding Nemo, on 50" HD screen this time!

... a Frenchman Fabien and his South African wife Flavia, who set up the business three years ago and are enjoying their island life style. Our half day tour took us to the reef by boat and if we thought snorkelling by the beach in Lalomanu was Finding Nemo, then this was Finding Nemo on a 50'' HD screen! Getting further out on the reef makes a big difference and the size of coral out there was amazing. We floated above enormous coral ...

Last people on earth to see the sunset

Easter Break in Savaii

... Banyan trees. A stairway circling the bigger of the two trees allows you to climb about 20 metres up to a tree house were you can choose to stay for the night, we chose not to and climbed all the way down again... On our way to the westernmost point of land in the world, at Cape Mulinu'u we went right into the tourist trap at Moso's footprint, paying for nothing more or less, and then we passed a cyclone ruined church in Falealupo ...

... had been so much rain! I have some lovely pictures which I will put up soon! Canopy Walkway, Moso's Footprint and the House of Rock - The four day we shared a taxi for hte day with some Australian Medical students. And we basically did a trip around the whole western part of Savai'i. This included the Canopy walkway: a 30m long suspended walkway through the canopy of two Bunyan trees. It was a fantastic view from the top. You could see all the top of the trees for miles around. We ...
