We will post trip information here as soon as it starts. For 2010, we will continue planning the project and look for Sponsors that are willing to invest and support the Project. All indications in that regard is ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica pamericas... El Indio is the best.
Lots of hanging around for the "ferry" - a lancha with cover & massive 200hp outboard which was stretched to capacity on the trip to Drake Bay. The book fails to mention this service - it's $15 and leaves about 11am though best to go in at least an hour or two before to reserve your slot.
Was a fun & beautiful hour's trip and we even stopped to check out a croc sunbathing on the way. Prepare to get wet as beach landing!
... do it!
It was a beautiful expanse of deserted beach and the little bays protected by the whales tail good for swimmimg although the sand is always wet - often covered at high tide!
Because staying in a dorm & no lockers, attached my netbook to the bed with the kensington lock - sadly the key broke in the lock & had to saw it off the bed - the owner kindly obliged with his diamond tipped electric blade - sparks flew, but freedom was forthcoming.
... the Moutain of Death.
The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldnīt go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...
Just a quick blog to keep you up to date
Had to change plans as there was no space at Sirena Ranger Station. Margarita was able to organise alternative route into Corcovado
Got Marvi bus to Sierpe. Stayed in good cabinas and had excellent meal in their restaurant
Hey Update. I'm currently in Uvita Costa Rica at a place called Cascada Verde. This place is pretty awesome in the jungle with a crazy view looking out to the ocean. The people are all so different, each one is so unique. There is this lady from Germany GashaNe who quit her Lawyer job and came here to volunteer and do yoga... she's like 50 and has this funny broken English. I find my self laughing not only at her but with her constantly ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica carrera2u... while tonight...it is such a familiar sound because of Big Lake and all the guys that like to play in the group. There is also a little boy here...5 years old...looks a little like Aksel...so, again, with the little boy energy that the universe is sending me to help me deal with NOT being around my nephews. It is such a gift. Everything about this trip is a gift. It is a amazing that once you are ready to receive gifts, they come in abundance.
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sunmoongoddess... his daughter, these guys wanted to fight me before they knew who I really was...it's a side of traveling you just don't get to experience when moving through places so quickly and there is no better story-teller. If you know Ryder, you know what I mean. We'll drive wherever and it seems every two minutes he's is sticking his head out the window yelling greetings at a passerby. Maya will be arriving soon as will Ryder's girlfriend Catherine. I'm sure those will be good times! More to come...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica cweigand... of the locals, everyone is really nice and helpful and they are trying to help me find a new community to spend my vacation at. I am thankful I at least have a safe and fun place to stay while I get my barrings and figure out where to go next. We have been at the Tucan for almost a week or so and it has been a great place to hang and figure out a new plan. We have been keeping ourselves busy with exploring the area, it is only a ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica magikmaker... continually surprised by the variety and colour of the birds along the way. We spotted a bush turkey high in the trees, loads of hummingbirds and once when I was on my own I spotted the elusive Quetzal bird, favourite bird of the Mayas for itīs emerald green feathers and 60cm long tail feathers. Still, this bird-watching equivalent of hitting a home run wasnīt enough to turn me into an obsessive twitcher (bird-watcher). On the animal front we saw ...
