Sydney

We spent 4 nights (April 28 through May 2) in Sydney at the Lane Cove River Tourist Park. We were actually 15 km or so north of Syndey, near the CH2M HILL office in Chatswood. The tourist park was next to a national park and felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Brad's favorite place in all of the Sydney area was The Ranch near our tourist park. They had specials all nights of the week, and for Tight **** Tuesday they offered anything on the menu for $15, which included a beer. AND they ...

Ok, so it's been a while, but we've been busy! Currently in the Blue mountains and it's raining. A lot, so a bit of time to catch up. We arrived in Sydney and on various recommendations decided to stay at the Lane Cove National Park. This is a superb spot if your in a campervan, or camping as it's an easy bus ride into the city, has good facilities and is cheap as chips (for a place this close to a major city). Items on the agenda are mainly the obvious Opera House tour, Harbour bridge climb,...

Sydney

Next time some arrogant Aussie bemoans about the dreadful English weather, I'm going to punch him. It rained solidly for our four days in Sydney. That aside, what a city. The first time we caught the train into the centre from our campsite at Lane Cove and crossed the Harbour Bridge, catching sight of the architecturally magnificent Opera House was rather like the excited buzz of a child on Christmas Eve. In many ways it felt Christmas had come early as we were dashing over to the famous SCG ...

Days 4 to 7: Hillsong Conference

Day 4, 5 and 6: Hillsong Conference

Day starts on the road at 8:00am last session finishes at 8:30 pm home by 9 ish!!

We have been finding the conference sessions are good. Mix of Music, Worship and Teaching.

Travelling around Sydney is challenging, long queues for parking at the conference, solution was to duck out early tonight. (Wednesday) Saved us at least 40 minutes.

Thursday sessions were interesting
Joel Osteen and Lakewood Church tonight was a good mix ...

Day 7 and 8: Sydney and Blue Mountains

Day 7 and 8: Sydney and Blue Mountains

Day 7: Saturday provided a lie in as we had the morning to ourselves.
Bron made her first faltering attempts at riding her new bike around the park.

We travelled to the airport to collect Cheryl and Bronte Wilson.
They are staying at the same park and have a few days with us before UCA Assembly starts.

It has been good hearing about their family holiday in Cairns.

Tried Krispy Kreme donuts at the airport after many reco...

Day 9 and 10: On public transport

Day 9 and 10: Sydney by Public Transport

Day 9: Monday Today we purchased a Day Tripper pass and used the time travelling on trains and ferries and river cats and buses.
The harbour was lovely and even the trip to Manly was easy going. Previous experiences had been different.
A trip through the harbour and up the Parramatta River to Parramatta and return on the River Cat was also pleasant.
Bronte and I spent a couple of hours in the Powerhouse Museum of technology. Could spend...

Jenolan Caves and Palm Beach with Paul and Amanda

Our final two weekends in Sydney were spent with our two Trans Sibbing friends, Paul & Amanda, who finally got to Oz. First we went to the Jenolan Caves, west of the Blue Mountains where freezing temperatures and lashing rain saw us bravely bush camping down a hairpin dirt track by a river. There is nowhere our game little van won't go - (well the burning of tyre rubber on the way back up might now dictate otherwise!). We struggled through the rain to check out the beautiful limestone cav...

Stunning Sydney and Ohhh the Opera House!

We spent a week in Sydney, staying at Lane Cove Park and getting the tube into the city each day. (I found out at the end of our stay that this is where they film the Summerbay Holiday Park scenes for Home and Away!!! I was very xcited.)

Highlights of Sydney:

The Opera House... it really is a building that makes you stop and stare! Jon photographed it from every angle. We saw a comedy show in one of the small studios and had a tour of the building. The tour was interesting (the ...

... the startings of a bush fire. we travelled down the longest piece of straight road in australia. 90 miles or 146.6kms to be exact. we crossed miles of treeless, absolutely barren plain and were sometimes faced with towering tablelands to the left of us and cliff tops, plunging into the deep seas to the right. we stopped at several roadhouses, filled with tourists and truckers and crazies, who'd clearly spent too long swiping the eftpos machine to pay for gas, pouring cups of ...
