I stayed in a Cabin (with all the comforts of home - staff were fantastic, they booked my Star Gazing tour for later that night.) opposite lake Tekapo you have a fantastic view, and the hot pools / ice rink are just down the road (walking distance). And I wont lie the Lake was cold when I went for a swim (it was mid winter May - but it was on my bucket list, to swim in very very cold water.)
The camp site is also walking distance to town - had a few beers at the local pub, then fish n chips on the Lakes edge - watching the sun go down.

This holiday park is a good stopping location for those traveling from Christchurch to Queenstown. Lake Tekapo is a pristine lake and at night you can see more stars than anywhere else.

Not a fan of the unisex restroom/shower facility.

Just what we were looking for. Free showers, kitchen was a bit dodgy, though with some hotplates not working. Gorgeous views.

They charge $15 a person to pitch a tent and you have to pay for your showers! Nice view but the facilites are basic. They're located well between the hike and hot pools and town - so the location is convenient. I just think they are expensive for what you get.

I woke up and got dressed and we got everything ready for breakfast. After breakfast dad, Sophie and I went to get 2 bikes, they were the same type but mine was smaller. After packing up we went on a 21/2 hour drive. We stopped at a rest stop and found a river and started skimming stones. My highest was 4 jumps, it was fun. We kept on driving to …

This morning was rather cold. It was hard to get out of bed and get going. But as the day wore on, the weather seemed to warm up, just the wind was cold. Bruno had a conversation with a local plumber who was camped near us, and he said we could see Mt. Cook just as well from the road going to lake Tekapo as going there. So we decided to not do the …

We arrived late Wednesday night (9th March) in Auckland and went straight to bed at a near by hotel before jumping on yet another plane the next day to Christchurch. The last flight for 3 months thank god! After a short taxi ride, with a random polish taxi driver who talked at us but made no sense, we met our homy! Yes our accommodation for the …

New Zealand is home to a beach covered with perfectly round boulders. They vary in diameter and are at various times of the day covered with Asian selfie stick toting tourist. If you manage to maneuver close enough for an unobstructed picture you can feel that these boulders are made of limestone and have small crystallized veins running through …
