Today we woke up early (lately, about 9am is pretty early for us) and drove for hours through the eastern part of Washington until we finally reached Idaho. We got to see Mt. Rainier in the distance and watch the environment and scenery change every 100 miles or so.

... Time all at the same time.
We saw a strange area just after the Idaho border in a valley: vast, graded, with large construction vehicles moving around... it was hard to see, and we were clueless. Best guess was some kind of mine. And indeed, it was the Lucky Friday Mine expansion area.
That was the beginning of the Silver Valley. Historically, silver mines were prevalent in the area, and mining is still alive ...
Day 1
300 miles, from Redmond to Post Falls Idaho. Very hazy day today driving through Eastern Washington, we could see multiple fires to the east.
We're heading east fairly quick, the plan is to make Yellowstone by tomorrow. So far so good!

Back on Pacific time
... cute. As we passed into Washington, we decided the KOA in Spokane Valley would be our home and we didn't want to do dishes. Therefore we decided that PF Chang's was on the menu for tonight. Talk about a camping spread. Nice. After dinner, a little time on the playground for the boys, where Blaine absolutely loved his time on the swings. Campfire tonight was different, because of the fire ban, the KOA brought around cinder blocks and metals firebowls to rest on ...
Arrived in Coeur d'Alene
... We were all happy he was running into the woods and not towards the highway. As we crossed into Idaho we were back on Pacific Standard time so we are adjusting to the time change again.
