    Lassen Peak is also a sleeping volcano. It erupted last on May 22, 1915. A hundred years ago. The eruptions (two shortly after each other) are well documented by an amateur photographer who happened to be around. Lassen Volcanic is about 160 square miles of volcanic wilderness. The recent well documented eruption made it into a good survey site. It is assumed to resemble the surface of Mars and therefore even NASA is interested in how the volcanic wilderness revives itself.
