    Lassen Volcanic National Park

This park was a little out of the way but due to it's high elevation we hoped we could dodge high temperatures forecast. Beautiful and peaceful park, it's one of the least visited National Parks in the lower 48 which is surprising since it's in the most populated state. The campground was ...

... off. We now have the rest of the day to get ourselves rested and reset. Contemplating sending some gear back home, need to write 13 more entries and maybe one day finish syncing all the photos to the Cloud. We call these "first world problems" and we are happy to have ...

N.F. Feather River to Soap Lake

Hiked a solid 22 miles with an amazing .2 mile detour to the Terminal Geyser. We also passed right by the Lassen peak and the Boiling Lake. Lassen is one unique offering of outdoor recreation and the first time I have been so close to active geologic processes. Very cool stuff, check out the media. We ended up camping in a burn zone near Soap Lake. The issue with camping in burn is that everything you touch is covered in soot. Oh well, things could be ...

Today was a very special day. Today we crossed the midpoint of the Pacific Crest Trail. So everything we have already accomplished x2 and we will have this thing, no worries. On a more abstract point, we were filled with mixed emotions about the crossing as it also represents the inevitable conclusion to this amazing journey and we don't want to have to think about that any sooner than we need ...

Day 1, a full RV, and blistering hot sunshine

    ... along the way.

Arrived in Weed,Ca at about 5 pm and found the RV park at the foot of Mt Shasta, only a smattering of snow on its slopes now.

Maggie coped admirably , despite the unfamiliarity of the moving vehicle the heat and the strangeness of it all. She is worn out now and asleep on the drivers seat.

Tomorrow we will explore Mt Shasta's trails before heading north to Crater Lake.
