Our three-hour ferry journey across Prince William Sound from Valdez to Whittier was cancelled due to bad weather (rain and 50mph winds), so we had to put up with an eleven hour van journey through some of the world's finest scenery instead. The pouring rain of our departure dried up after an hour, and then the sun came out, giving us good views of glaciers, woods and mountains, the changing ...

    Hi from Sunny Seward,

Well, travelling west, Alaska has continued to fascinate us. Snowy mountains and glaciers by the sea make for great scenery, especially when the sun shines.

My hairdresser there said she could only get to visit her family inland by plane or mushing!! Actually most of the pet dogs ...

Today our luck with the weather catches up to us. The days of sun drenched skies and warm breezes turns into, dark clouds dripping with rain, harsh cold winds and misty fog. We have to be in Seward by 9am so we get going early. The hour long drive is beautiful. The sky is cloudy and grey and rain pelts the car intermittently, but the scenery is amazing. Flowing creeks, marshy lakes dripping with lily pads, and snow capped peaks that the clouds drift in and around like ghosts. When ...

... we finally made it to Seward. Since it was dinner time, we quickly checked into the Seward Windsong Lodge, and went into town. Seward is a fishing village. Fishing boats everywhere! After walking around, seeing another Eagle, a cab that quacks, a baby reindeer, we managed to find that yummy restaurant on the water to eat dinner. The halibut was amazing, and Scott had salmon that holds a ranking of #2 in the world. I didn't know you can ...
