    ... t cooperate for a good impression of Homer. We could see that the views would be spectacular but the days we were there were overcast, rainy and the mountains and views of Kechemak Bay were completely obscured by clouds. That put a damper on our experience for sure. That and the fact that driving on the spit was way too much like driving through Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge in TN.     We board the Statendam and at Seward and get ourselves organised in our veranda room. The boat is big compared with the river cruise boat of last year but not large as cruise ships go. We don't leave until later in the day so I take the opportunity of finding out what might be best for me to do. Also use deck 6 for an uninterrupted walk (4 times around is a mile so it says).
