    ... vast swathes of fruit fields, where most of the workers appeared to be of Mexican descent. We stopped for lunch in Guadalupe and it did feel a little like we'd entered the set of a Spaghetti Western. Accordingly, we found an excellent panaderia full of ravenous farm workers, selling the best burritos of the tour so far.     A long ride

    I wanted to wrap up the new year with my longest ride of the year. I decided to ride from Rob's over the hills to Vandenberg AFB. It was a tough 11 miles getting over the coastal range but I made it.
    After a 10 mile tour of the base, I still had the return ride.
    A total of 32 miles on this ride putting my year at 688 miles.
    I think I will shoot for a 1,000 mile year in 2014. ...
