... it was about 50º outside!!! I scoured to internet to find somewhere that was open so we could get breakfast before exploring/hiking in the redwoods. We ended up at a diner called Peppers about 6 miles away. The food was fine but a little overpriced for a diner. We took off and decided to take the N entrance to the Ave of Giants and find a spot to hike.....we settled on a grove aabout half way down with a river hike.....until we found out it was under construction and was ill ...
We left Reno after a quick oil change and made great time all the way to Oregon. We met up with Brodie and traveled for a couple hours before finding a stop to camp at low altitude before our trip to Crater lake.
We have a beautiful spot, located right on the Rogue River. Amazingly it is in cell range - thus this quick update.
Off to cook hamburgers on the fire - cold beer in hand.

-Went on a trip with Hellgate Excursions to the Hellgate Canyon and the surrounding river shores. Dad kept signaling to the guide to splash Amanda, and after several 360 turns, a huge wall of water came pouring down on Amanda and I.
-For dinner, we went to Black Bear Dinner, and I had chicken-fried chicken--it was a really fun home-style atmosphere and small-town environment.
