To get to the U.S. at Sault Ste. Marie you have to take the International bridge over the St. Marie river which is where Lake Superior dumps into Lake Huron. The Canadian Shield has been replaced by a bit of farmland, but the trees are still plentiful, I even saw a maple syrup farm. It's all about the bridges today! For a toll of $4 you get to cross the awesome Mackinac Bridge which takes you from St. Ignace to Mackinaw ...

... A river ran right through town and they had river boat tours.

The most amazing part of our short stay (only 1 night) was visiting the World's Largest Christmas Store. Believe me when I say it's the largest I really mean it. You could also go right up the top, although it was a very foggy day, so we couldn't see much.

The following day we got up ...

We headed North along the shores of Lake Huron with an unknown destination!! Great drive but chilly and windy. We drove for several hours then landed for the night. We ended up at a road site stop/park in Caseville Michigan. Great spot to sleep with the water lapping the shores and the wind blowing!!!!

Yes, the island adventure was supposed to start yesterday, but didn't. Severe weather hampered our efforts to make it to the island. Silly woman didn't think it was safe to travel in an aluminum pontoon boat when there was lightening. Not sure why??? We detoured to the fine super 8 establishment located in West Branch. Appeared a little sketchy from the outside, but wasn't that bad. The aroma of stale cigarettes lingered in the ...
