On the road at 10 am (we worked hard to be able to do all this). Heading south to Colter Bat Campground in the Tetons. It's a crisp 35 degrees with a snow and rain mix.we are amazed at all the wild fire damage as well as some planned fires. The lodge pole trees are the tall skinny ones with a Christmas tree-like at the top. Their cones require the intense heat of a forest fire to split open and reseed! ...

... our campground at Colter Bay, which is towards the north end of the park and not too far from Yellowstone. Tonight we are roughing it a bit with no hookups. After a quick stop in the visitor center to pick up a trail map, we continued south in the park, pulling over a few times to get some pictures of the Tetons, luckily the haze from the Idaho wildfires lifted for a bit and we could see the mountains very well. ...

Today was another full day at Yellowstone. This place just gets more and more incredible, the more you see. Today's adventures and sights were very different than yesterday's. We started with a gorgeous drive north where we made a couple quick stops before our ultimate destination of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Along the drive, we saw an entire herd of Bison grazing on a hillside. They are so fun to look ...

Today was our first of two full days in Yellowstone. The best part is that we were able to sleep in this morning. We weren't on a strict timeline like the past couple days and that felt great. We left the hotel around 10. We spent most of the day checking out all the different hydrothermal features of the park - fumaroles, geysers, mudpots, and my favorite, the hot springs. We saw Old Faithful and ate lunch at Old Faithful Inn. I didn't think Old Faithful was all ...

... lake and then it started charging around the lake towards them. Naturally concerned he decided to get himself and his kids out of the bears way. He wasn't sure what spooked the bear, but was glad to see it run across the path and not come after them. One of his boys was scared to keep going along the trail, so I walked with them for a while (as bear bait!) until we were well away from the bear. Not long after I got back to the start point and met ...
