Time to say goodbye to Koh Tao...And the ladyboys!
... the ladyboys stayed to pose for photos with the crowd... JM made sure he got his photo with every single one! Personally, I think he looks a little too comfortable in the photos! Hahaha...(see photos - note left hand on bottom of ladyboy number two!)... What a great night it was. We both woke up with SEVERE hangovers. This is slightly eased by the fact the sun is well and truly back out today so we have been swimming and chilling beach side.... Next stop ...
Kanchanaburi - a different vibe
... let's just say that if the Hardcore Backpacker Group hadn't expelled us after the little trip to the fancy cinema they would definitely revoke our membership after looking at all the 1st world **** we are carrying around.
I'm rambling on. Our weekend only went downhill after arriving at Kanchanaburi. I had reserved a place that had top reviews on Trip Advisor but it was simply not for us:

The River, the Bidge, the Un-birthday!!!
... The train journey itself was pretty pleasant. However arriving in the rain wasn't exactly ideal.The train station was about 2km from our accommodation (which I was quite excited about). With not a taxi or tuk-tuk in sight we decided to walk. So with or ever reliable brollies ( a steal at two dollars in Singapore), we strapped on our bags and away we went.

The Bridge On The River Kwai
... if it (as is often the case here) got worse. Catching a local bus to the national park I then made my way to the first of the 7 tiers. Possibly even more popular with the Thai's than the foreign tourists it provides one the the most spectacular picinic spots I have ever seen. I hiked all the way to the top to see all 7 levels although it wasn't a particularly taxing walk it was very tricky to stay vertical as the path above level 4 was pretty ...
Wonderful Kanchanaburi
... the road to the allied war cemetery. We realised here that we knew very little about what went on during WWII on this side of the world, even though a large number of the POWs held out here were British. We took to reading the information signs and then had a very somber walk trough the thousands graves stones. All of these soldiers had died during the Japanese occupation of Southern Asia and the building of the infamous Death Railway (of Bridge over the River Kwai fame). ...
