    ... as if the landscape is banding together to withstand the monumental heat in a show of solidarity. I really can't describe it, the emptiness and life at the same time.     ... Grove hike, which took a lovely scenic drive to get to. We scooted down some switchbacks and along a gorgeous trail to the grove of some of the tallest trees I've ever seen. It's difficult to describe the sheer size of these giants-even standing right underneath them, we weren't sure exactly how tall they were as we couldn't see the tops of them.
