Clean, friendly and beautiful! As many reviews mention, the big lake is dried up but it is still a sight to see- more like a prairie with a little pond.

... when it goes empty, the CG moves forwards.  So, I have to keep the baggage compartment full and heavy, which it is with all the stuff I need for flying and camping during this trip. I also installed a “charging station” for all the electronic equipment that will be used for flight planning and navigating.  Since we’ll be doing lots of camping, we need to have the electronic flight bag fully charged before shutting down the engine. This is going to be ...

Day 1: Gainesville, FL to Boonville, MO

    Day 1 of our trip:
Trying to get our massive road trip off on the right foot, we left home and got on the road by 4am. The next few (many) hours involved the various sights one normally associates with 1-75 heading north from Florida. As we do every time, we snickered at the 'trucker spas' in Georgia, thrilled at the somewhat cheaper gas and bemoaned Atlanta traffic. The goal was to get to St. Louis by 5:30 so we could meet ...

After dinner we asked Karly to take us on a little tour and we started by heading to the UF campus to see where she is going to school. The campus is over 2,000 acres and was founded in 1853. It has been in its current location since 1906. It has an enrollment of nearly ...

    December Festivities in USA 2013!

December has been a huge month for us and a lovely ending to our jam packed year! It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas...the day after Thanksgiving. Down came everyone's Halloween and Fall decorations from their yards and up went the Christmas lights, trees, wreaths, garlands and the occasion blow-up decoration around the yards and inside the houses. The shops were full of Christmas decorations, and the biggest trouble I had was choosing a colour theme for ...

With lots of preparation and decorations...Halloween seemed to take all of October to come upon us. With the excitement of getting dressed up our very first Halloween finally arrived. Zoe started her Halloween day by dressing up as Vampirina Ballarina a book character we located here for her school's book character parade. The school had deemed Halloweeen a half day at school, so after their all school pizza lunch, I collected the ...
