A really well designed RV park. Plenty of space, utilities are in the right place, staff is eager to please, the scenery around the park is expansive. What's not to like?

Great trip down Route 93 to Ely. Passed the "Loneliest Road in America", Route 50, but this has got to be a competitor. Except for spectacular geography, not much along this route, unless you have an ATV that can take you up the dirt roads into the foothills where there seems to be a lot of mines, most of them abandoned.

We were supposed to go to Great Basin National Park today, but it was rainy and foggy, so we decided to just stay at home for the day. It was the first "rainout" we have had in our 5 trips cross country. We worked on the blog, took naps, watched golf and did the laundry - nice to have a relaxing day. ...

... wind. As we progressed into Nevada, handily welcomed by the small blue sign, the roads seemed to straighten out and the wind picked up. Maybe it has to do with the gambling here, who knows?


We had been seeing snow in the mountains and on a few vehicles that approached us. The temperature continued to drop and got down to 34 on one of the several passes we crossed. At one point there was slush on the road and significant snow nearby.

There's not a lot to be said for Nevada. We can put it in two words. Desert and casinos. We drove for 7 hours to get to Ely. It was a midway point for us on our way to Yosemite.

The next morning we needed to get some work done so we needed wifi. After speaking with the hotel clerk she directed us to the Hotel Nevada. turns out the Hotel Nevada is a historic casino with a cafe. After spending multiple hours working we wanted to ...
