          A reasonable overnight stop

Given that we had to stay overnight at the entrance to Denali Park, this was a reasonable overnight stop. The room was pretty basic though and on the cold side too. Breakfast was very simple - not really worth the additional $11 charge, but there was no place else to go. Charging for hot coffee seemed mean on a cold and frosty morning when there was no kettle in the room. The lunch box for the bus trip was not worth the additional $14 either.

          The Prey restaurant was OK.

Cabins with running water and electricity but not sure if heated well as it got cold at night. Comfortable. Has onsite restaurant. Also, has a lounge cabin area with board games, comfy old armchairs with moose and caribou antlers scattered around and two TVs.

... 6:30 bus. We were completely rewarded when we woke up to the sight of the High One clear in all its glory. We had joined the 30% club. Somehow when they are a part of your trail mix, it seems okay to eat M&M's for breakfast After standing around taking pictures and otherwise gazing at the magnificent view of the mountain, we quickly packed up to catch the early bus to the park entrance. It was a five hour trip back and then good-bye to Denali ...

Stopped to get a few supplies and on to Denali. Staying in the park for two nights. Crockpot Lasanga was a delicious meal. Found out only about 30% of the visitors actually get to see Denali or Mt. McKinley. We hope to on our tour tomorrow. They claim you have a better chance to see a Bear than the ...

... their 1st wedding anniversary). The meal and views were spectacular. The last time we ate on real plates was on Augusto's birthday. It had all of the traits of truly a memorable meal. Since it does not get dark until close to 11, we explored some small trails by Riley creek. There Augusto - always the hunter - found a fairly fresh moose hoof print. And a forest thick with trees, and a spongy, carpet like floor. I'm not sure what can we do to top ...

... were able to see Denali up close and personal but our hopes of getting even a distant view were dwindling by the second.

We woke up to sunshine, though that wasn't unusual even at 11:30 at night. Today was our travel day from Talkeetna to Healy outside Denali National Park. We wanted to get an early start so that we could get to the Visitor's Center to schedule a Ranger Guided Discovery Hike on Saturday. They ...
