      A reasonable overnight stop

Given that we had to stay overnight at the entrance to Denali Park, this was a reasonable overnight stop. The room was pretty basic though and on the cold side too. Breakfast was very simple - not really worth the additional $11 charge, but there was no place else to go. Charging for hot coffee seemed mean on a cold and frosty morning when there was no kettle in the room. The lunch box for the bus trip was not worth the additional $14 either.

      The Prey restaurant was OK.

Cabins with running water and electricity but not sure if heated well as it got cold at night. Comfortable. Has onsite restaurant. Also, has a lounge cabin area with board games, comfy old armchairs with moose and caribou antlers scattered around and two TVs.

... Linda dined on half a chicken served up on a wooden cutting board with potatoes and vegetables. Needless to say, we left stuffed and satisifed while the rain finally started to pick up but not strong enough to wash the dust of the white Murano we're driving or wash the mosquitoes out of the air for awhile. Rox and Linda decided to do a load or two of laundry at the facility provided by Aspen Haus and then we're shutting it down for the evening.

SO..... Decisions! We think that the time to go is perhaps on 4th July as MAYBE the truckers will be going home for Independance Day... Who knows.... We are now getting short of time to make our way back to either Salt Lake , or California. We have to turn south in the next few ...

One of the adult eagles was gliding past the nest trying to encourage the youngster, and the other adult was resting on the ridge. it was majestic and enthralling to see. We were the lucky 5% that were able to see Denali a/k/a Mt. McKinley clearly from top to bottom and back. During the week we were here, it is the only time we had such clear weather.

We also hiked with a Disco Hike from the Igloo Ranger station and it was fun, but ...
