    A reasonable overnight stop

Given that we had to stay overnight at the entrance to Denali Park, this was a reasonable overnight stop. The room was pretty basic though and on the cold side too. Breakfast was very simple - not really worth the additional $11 charge, but there was no place else to go. Charging for hot coffee seemed mean on a cold and frosty morning when there was no kettle in the room. The lunch box for the bus trip was not worth the additional $14 either.

    The Prey restaurant was OK.

Cabins with running water and electricity but not sure if heated well as it got cold at night. Comfortable. Has onsite restaurant. Also, has a lounge cabin area with board games, comfy old armchairs with moose and caribou antlers scattered around and two TVs.

... truck. As I was filling the truck Jeff notices a sign. Understand, outside of a gas station, a small motel and an RV campsite that's all that makes up Healy. The sign says brewery 100 feet away. Jeff and I started laughing. Yea, probably a trailer next to the station has some guy brewing his own. We finished filling and drove into a beat up trailer park and at the end of the park was truly a micro brewery and restaurant. We felt obligated to going in and seeing what ...

We started seeing snow capped mountains long before we arrived at Eielson but we could never really see Mt McKinley for the clouds. There were still some beautiful views ...

... the group. The girls were sufficiently shook up, and their group was heading down the mountain as quickly as they could go. Being fearless, our group continued on up the mountain. When they got about three quarters of the way up they met up with another group of people heading down. This group had also seen the bear. They were part of a larger group who had reached the top of the ridge. The bear was between them and the group at the top. The group at the top ...

... this high. The place was just a few miles down the road. We checked in just before noon for our 4 hour ride down the Nenana River which flows right beside Denali National Park. The cool part about this place is we all get dry suits which we have never done before. Very interesting to get into. The whole thing is one piece that keeps you dry from your feet to your neck. They do that since this water is fed by a ...
