... who are well on the way to filling their souvenir penny passport. We got petrol and snacks and left Santa Barbara by 11. Our reasons for stopping at the petrol station were twofold. Firstly, Darcy told us approximately 1 minute after leaving the mission and one minute before getting on the freeway that he had to go to the toilet. Secondly, we were keen to buy a paper map. I woke earlier than rest at 7.15 so headed out for stroll along pier and picked up a cinnamon roll from famous old west cinnamon rolls. Back to hotel to share with girls along with breakfast delivered to our room. Then head off on route 1 in overcast weather to Hearst castle. Taken up to castle via bus and take ground floor tour which is good. Quite some place even if a little confused architecturally. Lovely ...

... off the cyclemeter. Passed the entrance to Hearst Castle but won't be cycling back to visit, it'll feel too good to get off the bike. Found the Sea Breeze Inn & it really is breezy now as it's right on the beach, room has 2 beds, might as well use them both while relaxing watching gold mining in the Klondike. Went next door to the Mexican restaurant and had a couple of margaritas and beers, might be sorry tomorrow ...
