... It was a lovely evening and the sunset was gorgeous and the food delicious.
On the weekends we have been out to Oenpelli in Arnhem land for their Stone Country Festival. We bought and aboriginal painting and saw some aboriginal dancers who were not really that great. Their didgeridoo playing was pretty good though.
We have also been to Fogg Dam and Window ...
... plains. We did a 3 km walk to Home Billabong. The variety of bird life is unbelievable. As it is currently the dry season (June – October) the surrounding vegetation and landscape is very dry except around the billabongs, wetlands and rivers. We stopped by the Warradjan Aboriginal Culture Centre to view the culture and history of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Next stop was Nourloungie Rock and Anbangbang billabong walk – again ...

... hold but I was happy just taking photos - not convinced that the elastic band around its teeth was that strong! We just chilled round the pool and enjoyed the sun! At night we went to the outdoor cinema...felt like we had been transported back to the 1920's as we watched jonny depp from deck chairs with a huge bag of popcorn!
Went for a wander round the city and then came across an outdoor pool, with a HUGE wave machine....$5 to spend the afternoon there which was ...
... looks. In my drowsy and exhausted state I wasn’t sure if was just imagining it. Next thing the cab driver is guffawing all over the place after I asked Greg a question and used his name to get his attention.
“Greg Miller it is you isn’t it” the cabbie exclaimed. He is a huge AFL and Kangaroos fan. Then came all sorts of questions, at a million miles an hour – clearly he was used to being awake at this hour.
The cabbie wasn ...
... Twin Falls. We weren't allowed to swim at twin falls as there were crocs in the area but we got lots of good photo oportunies. Then we had to hit the 4WD track to Jim Jim. It was hillarious bouncing around all over the place - thank god for seatbelts. It looked great fun driving through the sand and round a narrow track through trees but obviously I wasnt allowed to have a go. Half way there we came across another adventure tours truck that had got stuck in the sand ...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia helshHi from the top of the Top End,
We have finished our week long stay in Darwin and so now it is time to report on what we got up to. After our initial mad scramble around to find a vacancy in a caravan park we were elated when we secured a powered and watered site, so we decided to book in for seven nights to enjoy a bit of down time.
What a great lifestyle these Territorians enjoy in their capital city. Tropical foliage abounds everywhere ...
... work harder to make myself unapproachable, but a little Gas goes a long way. That and the fact that I passed out while listening to my ipod and woke up to myself singing along with none other than French band Air's "Sexy Boy" with a Beethoven (the dog not composer) - esque drool patch on my shoulder was enough to deter event the most determined of pesterers. So I got two seats on the bus up. It was sweet. Gas has also made appearances at hostels when annoying ...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia gazalache... CUHRAAAZY!). The kids are getting so brave in the water. Both of them dive under the waves and jump over them and Tom swims out to where he can’t stand and then catches waves back in. Both the kids also enjoyed their first proper surfs on boogie boards, they couldn’t get enough and also practised paddling and standing up. Tom achieves this easily; we are looking forward to getting him on a real board in Indo! Afterwards we ...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia hindmarsh... did a rock art tour which gave me a better idea of the depth of the culture. These people have such an amazing and long history and are so connected to the land. The really neato thing is that this is honestly the first time I had even met or really even seen an Aboriginal Australian in real life. It felt really nice because you hear all kinds of stereotypes. We're just all people though. Max Davidson = the bomb The next few days were ...
