... scenic ... and follows the river VERY closely - without barriers! - but at least it's not hundreds of feet above the river. A short construction zone made me very glad I wasn't going the other direction. Scored a lovely campsite with the lake right behind me. ...

... flops in the high end Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch dining room. None-the-less, it ended up being an incredible evening.

The Sawtooths put a spell on us and we ended up staying in the Stanley area for a few more days. During that time we had a very memorable hike along Marsh creek where we met a wild weather pattern that hit us with intermittent sun, hail and rain. ... rustic cabin (no frills) but it was located right on the Salmon with a perfect view of the Sawtooth mountains. We went to Redfish Lake on the second day we were there. The ogs had a great time playing on the beach. Beautiful area and a chance to relax on the river after a lot of driving. We are about half way thru our trip now....on to Montana ...

... wilderness area (called sawtooth due to the shape of the mountains here). Before leaving the car park we were required to fill in permits, giving our details - one copy to be left in a box at the trailhead, another to be attached to our rucksacks.

I did not want to worry J (who was already on a rant about what we should do if we met a bear) but I did wonder if the purpose of having a tag on our rucksacks was so that our bodies ...

... ergoooooo they got food. So I planted it. Ate...swilled local beer......and tottled back via a gas station to top up me front tire....stopped in the store....**** they got Meyers dark rum......

So back to the room....my bag made gurgling noises.....found ice....all was good in the universe..... ya no dancing for me tonight..... I crashed hard........

Awesome day of riding......trick is to stay off the interstates and head for National ...
