    87 degree temps does not encourage fall colors! However, a stop at Ben @ Jerry's eased the warm day. Crossed from VT to NY via Lake Champlain ferry ($23). Ausable Chasm was worth the stop...and provided a scenic hike. Colorful trees amidst interesting layers of rock were amazing! Staying at Black Bear Camping in NY for 3 nights allowed us to explore the area. Even tho we missed our scheduled West Point ...

    Off for an early bird dinner at Texas Roadhouse and a bit of local shopping at TJ Maxx and then back to our hotel to relax from a day of driving. Looking forward to exploring this area a bit over the next few days. The beautiful Adirondacks area is just lovely.

    ... cabin our buddies rent each year around Labor day. After the weekend, returned to home base NYC for a couple of weeks before flying to Seattle to begin the next adventure.

    In Fern Lake tradition we snap a shot of the group prior to departure from the cabin. For this performance the role of Jim Kieding is being performed by the Green Alien.

    ... After an hour or so of driving, I pulled over into a rest stop near Hooksett between Manchester (no, not that one) and Concord so we could get a coffee (or a hot chocolate for some). Incentally, it was round here we passed two twin towns, one called Derry and the other Londonderry. It seems amusing even this far from the Troubles they can't decide what the call the blessed place! Anyway, back to the rest stop: it was quite dinky and cute with the New Hampshire state ...
