We made our grand entrance into Tofino at about 2 am. The drive took much longer than expected, especially since we didn't realize we would have to take a ferry. Tofino is on Vancouver Island and the fastest way to get to there is a 2 hour ferry ride to a port on the opposite side of the island. The next morning, we drove into town. We were sea …

We checked into our room and went exploring the town of Tofino and the local beaches, bars and restaurants. We lucked out and found a sunny ocean front bar where the local fishermen were tossing entrails to the sea lions and had a pints worth of entertainment. ...

... Large Leaf Maple too. (By the time we left we were experts in identifying the difference between the Fir and Hemlock trees). The trees were amazing! I haven't seen trees that big before. The forest even kept Robbie's attention!

We snaked our way to Tofino along some narrow stretches. We had one hairy experience while rounding a tight bend we came almost face to face with a transport truck heading the other ...

... Sea Lions and Water Ferrets (or more accuratly Sea Otters). Awesome boat ride with a guide named Chester, who ws very informative. Told me that thing we saw in the water at the WeighWest was actually a male California Sea Lion, and that only the males come up this way. Weird. Later on we went out to check ...
