... 6 or 9 ounce bacon wrapped fillet with potato, salad and bread or a vegetarian potato dish. We all chose the fillet and it was delicious. The cost $11.99. Here are some more photos of the Badlands.

At night we went to a lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore. We rode a school bus from the KOA. The bus was a little run down. Mount Rushmore was cool. It had a big gift shop. I got a stuffed prairie dog. A Ranger talked and then there was a movie about the four Presidents on Mt. Rushmore: Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt, and Jefferson. Then they lit up the sculpture.

... Mount Rushmore monument for the first time in 1937 when they were still working on Lincoln's nose. At the current rate, I doubt the workers will finish Crazy Horse in my lifetime, but maybe in 30 years I can tell some young person that I first visited the Crazy Horse monument when only the head was done. It makes for a great story.

The Rapid City area is very pretty....trees finally! It looks like the economy here is pretty healthy, new buildings, housing etc. Maybe influence from the oil?
