But for us most of the entertainment came at the hostel we stayed at, some 18km east of the city. Wir sind bereits um 7 Uhr aufgestanden, um eine Wanderung zu machen, welche der Tiere wegen am frühen Morgen oder Abend empfohlen wird.

Nachdem wir den Sonnenaufgang bestaunen konnten, machten wir uns auf den Weg. Ausser einem hübschen Seelein und Moskitos haben wir jedoch keine Tiere gesehen.

Unsere Weiterfahrt brachte uns durch wunderbare Landschaft und den ersten farbigen Bäumen, am Lake of the Woods vorbei, nach Thunder Bay in den Kakabeka Falls PP.

... and monuments, and unlike the Canadians they didn’t fleece us for an entry fee, and parking was free. A bit of a moan here…. In Canada we purchased a National parks pass for something like $145 CDN, and that gives us access to all the parks, but there is a catch that those tricky Canucks don’t tell you, often there are additional parking charges, which really offends my sense of fairness. End of moan!!!

On Saturday the 5th we headed to Grand Marais on the north shore of lake Superior. This reminds me so much of the Northeast. I have to keep reminding myself that we are not in New England.
