    ... gear!

    We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon, SD last night. I used my reward points for a free hotel stay. The hotel also had free laundry and a WATER PARK!!! However, we didn't go to the water park :(. We were very grateful to go to the bathroom without swatting at mosquitoes and to take a nice warm shower!

    We are now off to Badlands National Park for a few nights and a quick stop at Mount Rushmore. We will then be travelling west to the ...

    ... Superior. It was built in 1910 after 29 ships were lost in1905. It gets rough in the lake. Lots to see there.

    We stayed at a lovely although slightly run-down camp on a beautiful lake. They call Minnesota the land of 10,000 lakes and we have seen many of them. It is a beautiful state.I must admit that the most I knew of it was that it gets below 40 degrees F in winter.

    ... a wonderful morning. It was a foggy day, with lots of moisture in the air, at times hard to tell if it was spray from the falls or drizzle from the sky. In the end, love the way the falls show through the mist in the photos.

    ... I had exactly one tape: a mix of Heart (side A) and the Doobie Brothers (B) that my dad made years ago. Until now.

    But my favorite moment was seeing a familiar Alan Jackson one (I had the CD once), pulling it out and seeing a handwritten label overlay: "CALLING MOOSE" because the actual tape in the case was an album of moose calls. Northern Minnesota!
