... going from a full day of sun and snorkeling to a visit to the town of St. Lucia, and a shorter visit to the Eastern Shores and Makakatana's private beach. Also, let me say that any time you leave the lodge itself is a game drive (actually, you don't need to leave to see anything, we saw a warthog, african buffalo and zebra so far from our porch). We have been able to see many very cool animals and bird life so far. Much of the larger game ...

... calves. They stepped into the dry river and all drank from a puddle on the side. I felt privileged to see this sight – of six white rhinos at the same time.

It was now about twenty to six, we were supposed to be back by six pm, so we had to leave all the animals at the river and start driving to our lodge. Saw shields made of cow hide (bull as it's thicker) and white wedding shield. Patterns (different ...

... in truck ready before Axel even came out. Picked up Impala that had been killed to feed Wild Dogs. It was in the back of ute with us, we had to put our bags up so they didn't get blood on them. Went to Boma and Axel drove into enclosure and put Impala on ground for dogs. One dog ate the balls off first, then they go for the intestines. Dogs got hot and jumped into water trough. Vultures appeared overhead ...

It was an early rise with a 5am start on Tuesday for our safari. We were picked up by a 4X4 ready to go to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi park for our all day safari. The Hl is pronounced like the welsh Ll and once I knew that I was much better at saying the name - I've been calling in Hulooweeloowee for the whole trip so far. Before 10 o'clock we had already seen white rhino, giraffes, elephants, warthogs, buffalo and Wildebeast. Our guide called the empalas the fast food of the ...
