Day 30 – Stop the rollercoaster!
... is fitting.
We had one more big downhill to ride that eventually got us to the town of Lone Pine, CA. It was on this hill above Lone Pine that we got our first look at the Sierra Mountains and Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the Lower 48. The Sierras formed this incredible wall to the west of the high sage desert plain that we continued to travel on. It was quite impressive, and for the first time in several weeks we saw snow – in the form ...
Dag 34 Midpines - Fresno
PCT days 78-86: Tuolumne Meadows to Independence
... the daylight hours. We are taking time to take in the scenery, but we aren't chillin' that long during our breaks. Where is the time going!? Later starts in the morning, earlier finishes, and slower going on loose, sandy and rocky trails...that's where it's going. Ugh, and we thought we would have time to have lakeside picnics...
Day 83: We've always wanted to go to the Evolution Basin in the Sierra to climb Mt. ...
King of Trees at the Sequoia National Park
... ride will bring you to the Giant Forest Musuem. There are a few trails around it.
Next we drove further and stopped by trails to have a look at then 2nd and 3rd largest tree!
Final stop was a Vista Point at the King's Canyon which has an amazing areal view.
We took off before it gets dark... and what a great day it was!
Enjoy the photos.
