Our capital

I headed out for another morning run and we then reluctantly packed up the last of our stuff to drive on out of Jervis Bay, headed to Canberra. Steve had decided to take the coast road through Ulludulla and Bateman's Bay so as to miss another hairy drive similar to the one through Kangaroo Valley. I was happy with this as we had …

We headed off early to the National Museum Australia. First exhibit was a circular theatre where we were treated to a photo and music history of our land as the theatre rotated. It was a fascinating way to start our tour as we ventured into the rest of the museum. Through many mediums of photos, collage, videos, paintings, many amazing …

War Museum and Parliament House

The leaf blower or whipper snipper was out again in Canberra this morning, but at least the noise didn't start until 8am today! We headed off to the War Museum for opening at 10am. We accompanied a tour of the Museum lasting until 12 mid-day. It was very interesting and informative ending with a couple of light and sound shows which took you …

Forward to Canberra

We thought we were in a quiet Motel, even though we were near the Hume Highway, we were in a back room, but alas I thought I was home again - the gardener was in with his whipper snipper going full pelt at 7.15am! No thought for the motel guests, and as our neighbours boys would say, "John is blowing the street again!" So we had a noisy brekky, …

Days 1 to 3

We have had a ball so far. Good trip to Sofala on Sunday. Stopped at Prima for a break & there was a 7 a side cricket comp on. They had 27 sides & 5 fields operating. An annual event for the little community. Onto Coolah then into Mudgee for lunch. It is a nice vibrant spot. Cruised down to Sofala arriving at the pub by about 3.30pm. Chat …

    Not a caravan park

This place is now called Alviro Tourist Park. It may be ok to stay in a unit but the caravan park section is nothing more than a gravel and concrete road. Very substandard amenities - smelly, mouldy and old. We wanted to leave early and they refused to refund for two days we weren't there. Would not recommend.
