This campground ticks all the boxes and the people are really nice. It's only downside would be the price. I took the cheapest spot available and it was still $ US 85 a nite. That goes up to $90 in a couple of weeks. I was ably led to my spot by a patient staff person who learned how quickly short trailers turn. Check in process is a little different than most parks in that if you have a reservation you are led to your spot before checking in.
My two W's are covered nicely, with perhaps the nicest washroom/showers I've come across, and the wifi is acceptable, although not really strong or wide bandwidth. I am staying in one of the sites close to the highway so the road noise is there, but it was not at all bad overnight.
The campground is long and narrow with the beach frontage being the narrow part. From front to back it's quite long and my walk to the beach (which is a beautiful fine, white sand) from my site by the office/highway is a bit of a pain. There are two pools, one that is covered in right now since it's winter, and the other one doesn't seem to be open yet. The start of the season is really the beginning of March.
There are services up the ying yang around, with shopping and restaurants on overdrive. There is a big outlet mall almost right across the highway, and other shopping all along Highway 98. Surprisingly, there are not that many restaurants on the water from what I can tell.

Our time in Desin was exactly what we needed. We got to Camp Gulf at about 8:00 PM, set up, and were getting ready to grocery shop when Grandpa and Monica called to check in. They also wanted to know which site we were in, because THEY WERE THERE TOO! We were very lucky to get some extra time to visit. We went down to the beach at Camp Gulf, and it …
Yesterday, I drove only 2 hours east on Highway 98 from Pensacola along the Gulf coast to a town called Destin. Well, technically I'm in Miramar Beach, which is just east of Destin. The drive was unremarkable except to say that I never seemed to be in the countryside and the only way you could tell you were travelling from one town to …
Roughly 1600 miles in the rv (only about 30 in u turns and wrong directions) 23 packets of beef jerky 11 different campsites 8 trips to Walmart. 8 too many. 7 state parks. 0 fish caught. Not enough peanut sandwiches for George and Bea and too many for Rob and I. I'm sitting here in blissful silence. Minnie is asleep in the shower tray and Rob has …
... retired Boeing machinist in his 80's who was just starting his motorcycle ride down to the Keys. We chatted for a while, waiting for the rain, which had restarted, to stop again. He was funny, and when then rain subsided, we were back on our way. This time, we put on our rainsuits just in case. As we passed deeper into Mississippi, the Gulf Shore beaches began to

Woke up feeling better as Jonthan and I were excited about moving on. We sorted out the messing camping gear (this bothered J a lot!) and then went for a short walk on the trail and then swam in Manatee springs. Now I have to read up about the volume of water it spits out every year, but it was 72F I believe and I dived right in - took my breath away as so cold. J couldn't believe that I did ...
