... which were very charming, not necessarily expected by either of us. All of the people we met were very friendly to us, the only problem was that they generally only spoke Hungarian and German, which made Chris pick his brain saying every word he could think of in those languages! ... for the long jump, though they had to rake the sand after every few jumpers. It was all very efficient.

Next came break, and all the kids got a sandwich and water. We ate our snacks and started to wonder if we had brought enough water. After the break came the wrestling. Unfinished business - cycle around Lake Balaton

... have to concede he was absolutely right. The final 15 kilometres was along a dedicated cycle path. At first it went across the marshy lake edge and then through some woodlands. We were surrounded by natural vegetation, sounds and smells.


After 83Km we made it back to the van, literally minutes before the thunderstorm, with hail, hit us. I owe Dave for his sense of timing and for allowing me to slipstream.

... constructed over the lake, with the entry and changing rooms on the lake shore by the parking lot. At first glance there appeared to be only a handful of people at the lake, but once we entered and changed, we discovered that most of the people were swimming under the buildings and boardwalks suspended over the thermal lake.
