A Unique Island Full of Wonders & Great Sceneries

Easter Island resembles the notion of intrigue. Many have it on their list of places to see, and understandably so. My encounter with the island was brief but it was enough to get a sense of its intrigue and beauty. As we landed on the first day, the nice island breeze welcomed us. It was a perfect 80 degree weather. Advanced arrangements were made …

Known to us today as Easter Island, Isla Pascua in South America (i.e. Easter Isand in Spanish) due to the date the Dutch explorers found it in early 1700s, its current Polynesian name is Rapa Nui or big Rapa due its similarity with the Polynesian island of Rapa. It was originally called 'Te Pito O Te Henua', or ‘the navel of the world’ …

A five hour flight sepparates Chile from this mythical land. Easter Island is one of the most isolated places on Earth and probably the most remote inhabited island. Their closest neighbours live on the Pitcairn Islands, about 1900 km away. The island has only 3000 people and there are more wild horses than people on this island.

Between school work and frequent travels, I have fallen pretty far behind on my blogs. Fortunately, I have a bit of time to catch up. The second weekend in May, I took an incredible trip with two friends to the most remote inhabited island in the world. Easter Island is a part of Chile, over 2,000 miles off the coast. The island can only be …

A great option for a beautiful view of the sea

It was an absolute thrill to enjoy the beauty of Easter Island and stay right next to its coastline while being close enough to the city center. We initially planned to camp but decided to take a room instead. Cost is a bit steeper than usual - about $35 or so person for a room with 2 beds and private bath. But since the couple of nights we were there, there was heavy rain, it made it all worth it. Lovely staff and clean facilities. I would recommend a stay here as the location is such a plus.

    Loved it!

We really enjoyed staying here. The weather was great which may have been a reason why we had such a good time (it rained on our last night and that wasn't as great). There are two cooking areas in the huge dining/kitchen area and we never had a problem with room with that or shared bathrooms. Bummer is hot water is limited to morning and evenings but not really a problem. You wake up to 20 foot waves pounding the lava rock just outside your tent. It's incredible. The tents they provide are quite nice.
