Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... Not only have the donations received already far exceeded my expectations, but the kind words and general interest and support that I have received have been amazing. So thank you all. It is all very much appreciated and I can't believe that between us we really will change these little lives. It is my motto here in Antibes, but this is the ultimate "think globally; act locally ...

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...

... how much time they could have spent looking at all the spectacular flowers. Although there were many other places we wanted to venture to, the on and off heavy days of rain were starting to dampen our spirit, and with the forecast looking better for the Cote d' Azur, we decided it was time to pick up thy home and drive 4 hours south to our next stop. Frejus, Cote d' Azur (Thurs 1st May- Reality is starting to hit us! The campsite we are now staying on is far busier than any of ...

South of France..now here's a France I can support

I arrived in Frejus (just outside of Nice), and couchsurfed with Keveen at an international campsite in which he worked. A few people (Elodie from France who lived in a sick ass van, Staan from France, and Tiboe from Poland) went down to the beach to swim which was nice and warm. I quickly questioned the absense of waves before realizing it was the ...

Our First Few Weeks in France

... Les Pins area which is where we are living this time. One weekend we had a fantastic dinner with our mate Patrick and his son Sebastien. Christie is a magnet for children and it wasn't long before her and Sebastien were friends (he had only just been born last time we were here in 2001). Patrick put on his chef's hat and spoiled us with a big feast that kept our bellies full for days. Despite his protests that he couldn't cook we were pretty ...

Driving the Corniches

... uphill climb from the car park, before we arrive at the stone gateway and enter a medieval world. The village is a lovely sight to behold and we wind up and down steep cobbled lanes bedecked with flower pots at all sides. There are so few people; we are at times totally alone. The whole village is wreathed in mist, which makes the experience quite unique, though we are unable to appreciate the stunning views down the mountainside towards the coastal strip ...
