... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
... campervans. One of which had the biggest dog we have every seen. It was a Newfoundland, which looked a little like a small bear but was as tame as a kitten. As the sun was about to set we took some photos and then had a wander through the village - everything was closed - end of season.
Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France darrenhough74... Parfumerie sniffing lots of raw materials and looking at loads of ancient perfume containers. The science/art of perfume manufacture was explained in detail as well in more than 25 rooms, using state of the art video techniques. The newly renovated Museum has been open less than a year and is certainly worth a visit. The usual charge is €3.00, but, on the first Sunday of the month, for reasons best known to the Museum curator, admission is free ...
Grasse, Provence, France kevino101Leave from nice on the Chemins de fer de Province (diesel train) to Touet-sur-Var. And then the steam train to Entrevaux, city with amazing views. On the way back a quick stop in Puget-Théniers.
My camera battery died once we hit Entrevaux so no photos :(
... most testing pistes run down from the top of Aiguille Rouge, though watch out as the cable car can fall foul of the bad weather and be closed sometimes. The Aiguille Rouge Black run is my favourite in Les Arcs, and takes in 7km of twists, turns and fun!
As you head over towards Arc 1800 the runs seem to get ...
... trap and poison for our furry friend to snack on while we were out at the fireworks in Juan Les Pins. The fireworks happen on the beach every Saturday night in the summer. A different country does the display each week accompanied by music. We had a great time but couldn’t help but wonder what was happening at home.
When we returned the mulot had taken the chocolate off the trap (yes, chocolate is what we were told that French ...

... From there one can hike along the Verdon and take the famous "Sentier Martel." La Palud-sur-Verdon, a village with museum and tourist bureau, is nearby; the "route des Crêtes" (Crest Route, linking various panoramic viewpoints) proceeds from here. The Sentier Martel also is accessible from this route, beginning at the French Alpine Club or "châlet de La Maline." This path covers over 100 km of not always easy roads.
Castellane, Provence, France gianliguori... over the side of the wall. Amazingly, the church was open and devoid of people. Bridget and I walked in and were able to take a flash-free snap (must have been almost a 2 second exposure) which seems to have grabbed the feeling of the place. It turns out that Castellane is a bit of an advernture capital too. The gorges have lots of rapids so there are plentof canoeing and rafting operations taking people on wet'n ...
Castellane, France andoandbridget... roadworks everywhere. As if the drivers in France weren't crazy enough without being stressed by roadworks. Anyway our first stop was a giant Ferris wheel near the beach. It's not as big as the London Eye but you can still get a great view from it. Check out some of the photos to have a look. The beach along Nice is beautiful. It's not the same as the ones in Australia since all the beaches are pebble beaches, not sand. They actually dredge some of the sand from out to sea to put it on ...
