2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... Not only have the donations received already far exceeded my expectations, but the kind words and general interest and support that I have received have been amazing. So thank you all. It is all very much appreciated and I can't believe that between us we really will change these little lives. It is my motto here in Antibes, but this is the ultimate "think globally; act locally ...

Boring drive day so here is life in Scooby

... Moochelin star cooking It is my job to drive everywhere and keep Scoobs in good health, in return it is Kim's job to cook and clean... sounds like old school type casting but it works! The food has been great (and so has the driving) Kim has even joked about writing a Cookbook for campervaning. We have a 2 burner stove, griller and oven, as well as a small fridge/freezer and limited storage space, so our food is always super fresh. The day always starts with our ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... other spots in Europe, here we didn't need to wear our polar fleeces...) we decided to extend our stay to include the weekend and spoilt ourselves with a stay in a 4 star hotel right near the beach! Its our first splash out since we started and would you believe it was almost in budget!!! Guess the off-season thing really applies here. Its a bit sad that we haven't come here in summer as its a bit chilly still, particularly when the sea breeze comes up. We've been very jealous of the 30 ...

LAZY DAYS, WHAT A LIFE!

... hunting on Saturday isn't too good, no one seems to be around to talk to. Pete and Jack come back with their diner, they plug in their phones to charge with our electrical plug. Afterwards we spend some time talking about Everest and some of our other travels with them.

Tonight there is a jazz/rock band playing at the bar. I will check it out on my way to do some blogging.

Ventimiglia, Eze and Monaco

... commute to Moncaco to work every day and there are always jobs available in the hotels and casinos. So many people commute to Monaco because it is very expensive to live there. One square meter of land can be 15,000 to 25,000 euros. That means a small flat would be about 1 million euros. You can transfer that to US dollars yourself. Why is it so expensive? Because everyone wants to live in Monaco because there are no taxes! Monaco used to be entirely dependent on it's ...

Arrived all safe and sound

... friends is on right now, I wish I knew what it was saying! Then my roommate and I found that we had wireless internet if we sit on one of our couches. We are all sitting there, writing to our friends and family. That's it for now, I'll let you know anymore. Also, my address is different from the one I gave before. It is actually 29 Boulevard Marechal Foch 06600 Antibes, France. My phone number is also different and I will get back to you when I have it.

Antibes!

... we heard the announcement "Due to technical problems, this train (an Intercity major long-distance train, mind you) will not be stopping in MILANO CENTRALE and will instead stop at Milano Lambrate (in the far-flung suburbs)."  Our jaws dropped. Anyway, this German guy had been on the train the whole time with us and tagged along with us to figure out how to get to Nice (where he was also, randomly, going).  He ...

Cote d'Azur

Finally the day that Attila has been waiting for! We're off to the Riviera to enjoy the sunshine and surf. But first we had to get there. We decided that we could avoid paying the Freeway tolls by taking smaller highway and side roads. Attila enjoys driving on those road more anyway and I can actually saty awake, unlike travelling via freeway. However, we did not anticipate that this was a long weekend in France and ...
