    ... got up to 24 knots and the seas got much bigger, I kept thinking that you could surf these waves ! So we wedged ourselves in and felt like we were on a roller coaster ride at times. After 3 hrs of this we were glad to see the Italian coast. We arrived in Vieste at around 18.00 moored up and went straight to the bar and had a long cold beer or two !     Monday 18th May

    We were planning a walk along the
    gorge today and had our rucksacks packed and boots on. We got as far as the
    toilet block (about 10 metres from the campervan) and it started to rain
    heavily. It had been thundering for the last hour with the odd spot of rain but
    nothing we couldn't have handled. Anyway, after 10 minutes or so, we made the

    We left Rome at 8 AM, stopping in the nearby hills to learn about the Roman Emperor Hadrian, at the ruins of his monumental villa at Tivoli. An enthusiastic traveler and builder, his lasting legacy includes his great wall across Britain, the domed Pantheon, and his stylish beard.
