Sunland in Cairns worth being a bit further out

Very well equipped, clean and well set up. A bit hard to find without a GPS but well worth the searching. A bit further out of town but with a vehicle not too far at all. Free wifi would have been a grateful addition.

If you've got a car to get into downtown and you're not looking for anything too fancy, this place will do. It was the best price for a cabin that we could find in town. Staff not particularly friendly. Facilities fine but shower temp varies during your shower. Cabins basic but fine.

    Fantastic Deal

Stayed there about a week as we had some time to kill in Cairns. They had a fantastic deal for 38 AUD for a cabin with TV and kitchen. It's located a few km outside the city center but it's not a problem if you have a car. Facilities are clean and so was the cabin. Only free WiFi was missing.

... exercising. Then enjoyed happy hour special....peach champagne at the swim up bar. Dinner was at the restaurant. They did not put "shrimp on the barby" as planned because of the threat of rain but we had grilled prawns, chicken and sausage done on the indoor grill. The restaurant is open air on one side. We are definitely in the tropics! We can walk into town where there are shops, galleries and ...

... for a swim; it was a very thin strip of sand and VERY windy so we didn’t linger – it was like being sandblasted. The wind had tempted lots of kite surfers onto the ocean, so we headed to the wonderfully-named Yorkey’s Knob to watch them for a while. Dinner was back at the hotel as we were too tired to even think of going anywhere, followed swiftly by ...
