    So after catching a flu bug over the last 3 days, I swallowed down Immodium, Pepto Bismol and Sinus Advil and packed for the trip. The Jeep was vacuumed, Armor All'ed and stocked with water and plenty of ginger Ale. Music Mom had 2 small bags and I had my medium, 5 day suitcase.     ... Japanese Garden, Italian Garden and then there was a music bowl, a conservatory and a gift shop (of course). Despite the rain and trousers being wet up to the knee, the flowers were so magnificent that it was easy to forget the rain.

    My new Kathmanu jacket got a good going-over with the weather and proved that it was in fact waterproof and kept me nice and warm.

    Took LOTS of photos of flowers.

    ... car I look to the right for cars and Richard looks to the left when we are at corners. I look for the traffic lights seeing they are overhead ones not on the side of the road like ours plus tell Richard to keep to the right and speed limits. They change all the time 50kms in built up areas, then the other roads go from 60 to 70 to 80 then 90kms on the Highways.

    ... who died before it was finished. His family lived there for many years but eventually sold the property which was home to a military hospital, a college, and a music conservatory. Now owned by the Historical Society, it has been largely refurbished to its original splendor. No expense was spared in its construction; the wood, marble and stained glass are beautiful.

    ... partly buried in seriously deep snow banked up the building walls to roof height prepared us for what was to come. Turning onto what is called East Rim Drive we soon arrived at the Steel Visitor Centre which acts as the Crater Lake National Park HQ. Here
