      ... also evident. From its inception in 537 AD to 1453 this imposing structure served as a Greek Orthodox church and from 1453 to 1931 it was taken over as a mosque. Inn 1935 it opened as a museum. It is extremely interesting and thought provoking to see the combination of Christian and Muslim decor contained in this enormous building.       ... reconstructed ruins almost everywhere. Most of what we saw today dates to around 400 BC though we are told that much older ruins exist, often in layers below. It was a nice drive through the fertile countryside outside of our port city, Navplion, on the Peloponnese coast to the town of Corinth.       ... broke his hand the other day by thumping a cow so we had an expensive trip to the doctors only to find it wasn't broken. Children and cows are spewing germs left right and centre and testing out our immune systems big time.
      This area of the island is beautiful and we have spent some time walking in the woods and along the beach when it isn't raining. We also explored the town of Victoria yesterday which was a lovely day away from the mad house!
