... br>Santa Elena! It was a looooong day of travel that started at 630
Thursday morning, in the rain nonetheless. After waiting for the bus
for 35 minutes, we were finally ...
... we settled in and hit the supermarket to get some supplies for dinner. After we ate, Eduardo, the friendly guy who works the night shift, sat with us and gave us a very thorough consultation on all the hiking and tours available in the area. We decided to head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve the next morning, bright and early. Surprisingly, we made it to bed at a decent hour- before 11pm even! It was a early rise Friday morning to catch the 730 bus to the Reserve. After ...
Santa Elena, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica jeridolp... suspension bridges and enjoying the feeling of being completely surrounded by chirping, flourishing life. Then, it was time for the main attraction. We fitted ourselved out with helmets, harnesses, and heavy-duty work golves and set out for the zip-line course. Before we knew it, we were sailing along wires between tree trunks and over gorges, flying through the jungle. We were told to put pressure on the wire with our gloved hands whenever the guides gave us the slow-down signal ...
Santa Elena, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica amandanlaurenSanta Elena/Monteverde are the highland cloud forest regions of Costa Rica famous for the ziplining craze which may (or may not) have started there. Its not much of a craze, actually, but its damn good fun all the same. Personally, I found some of the ziplines themselves (a zipline being a stell cable slung between two platforms along which you travel, sometimes quite rapidly, by means of a pully to which you are harnessed) quite tame, as unlike the ...
Gruen...
... We took the boots , the flash lights and our valuables and started walking.
After 10mn, we found a house. A really nice woman, Grace and her 2 kids , Diana and Elvis, opened us. We try to explain in Spanish what happened to us. I think I have never spoken Spanish that good in my life. I think the survival instinct does wonder sometimes. I probably could have spoken chinese that day. The woman explained that we took the wrong turn and that road was ...
... had the last laugh however, managing to **** on my right foot as we tried to storm ahead in a tight spot of forest. The evening was spent drinking wine before we took a taxi to a bar where one of zip-lining instructors from earlier in the day was performing a gig on his guitar. Thankfully we arrived at the end of his set and were quickly able to escape downstairs to get some dinner. We are getting a jeep-boat-jeep to Arenal next having completed our stay in Monteverde...
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica jamie88... On the way you drive around the beautiful Lake Arenal. This part of Costa Rica is really beautiful. No signs of pollution here.At the far end of the lake is Arenal Volcano and just under neath is the town of La Fortuna. This is a Tourist town. Lots of adventure Activities and tours to do. I will spend a couple of days here.
Fortuna, Costa Rica anywherebuthereWe left Monteverde in the morning, driving through lush green pastures and small villages until we got to Lago Arenal, an artificial lake created for hydroelectric purposes. On the way we stopped at a small restaurant/shop where there was a really cute green Amazon parrot. She climbed all over us and didnīt want to let go of Ido when it was time for us to leave. He has some bite marks on his hands as a result of her attachment to him. Taking a boat across the lake ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica phoedo... a very good hiking guide if he chose to be, for he was first to notice almost all of the birds and insects that we found during the trip, even before our own guide. One of them was the famous Quetzal, and another was a bird that grows a long black mustached during mating season. We were going to stick around to hike even more after the tour ended, but unfortunately both of us decided that a nap back at the hotel sounded more appealing. And our final ...
