... time. Although no longer a military garrison, the fort served as a safe passage post to the western territory and continued so for many decades. I hope you've enjoyed this small snippet of its history.
We also took a quick trip to Zane's Landing Park to see the Lorenza Sternwheeler that traveled the Muskingum River. Sternwheeler vs. Paddleboat...hum?
We're heading south-west. Our next stop, Florence, Indiana.

... now in Michigan. Rode to try to see Lake Michigan this afternoon but was only able to see a very small part. It looked very big and very rough as the wind was blowing. We left Ohio where it was 91 degrees yesterday and arrived at our campsite to 73 degrees. It was so comfortable that we left the door open and opened windows, something we don't get to do that often. We'll spend two nights here then travel more on Saturday. More to come later.
... so we just stayed on the coach and fixed lunch. By the time we'd finished eating the rain had stopped so Jim took over and on we went to Buckeye Lake.
We got set up in our campsite then went to eat dinner. Jim found a local diner called "Clay's Cafe" in Hebron, OH. You can see pictures attached. It was quaint with stools at the counter that reminded us of our growing up ...

The drive was fairly uneventful, and my navigating skills proved to get us to out destination without any random detours - yay! We did end up in a storm where the rain was so heavy that we could barely see the road, but luckily, these tended to be short sharp showers.
For the rest of this week, we will have similarly long drives until we reach the Rushmore ...
Beautiful!! This park surprised me. Located throughout the official state park are numerous highlight sites, with trails connecting them. We drove, which was just as scenic as walking, and did save us a lot of time. Anyway, we saw 3 rock formations formed out of the passings of ...
