We spent a few days in Zipolite getting some beach time following a couple weeks inland. The town/beach has a laid back hippie vibe that compliments the area very nicely. We stayed at a dumpy hotel but it was right on the beach so no worries. The hotel also had an entertaining, eccentric California owner who loved telling us about his favorite thing -- himself. We also took a day trip to Puerto Escondido to check out the 'Mexican Pipeline'.

... that I can't even walk anymore. We run around trying to find a bathroom and I can only sit down as no further step can be risked. Finally I make it and for the rest of the day I have to listen to Jason's joke of me having to run to the bathroom for the excitement of turtles. I don't know what to say, it is true! It was a joy to spend 5 hours with this guy learning about not only the birds, but the flora, the fauna, the animals, the land and observing the different environments including the lagoon (a/k/a swamp), the wet and dry mangrove area, the island and the abutting forest. ... After tortillas we got back on a bus and drove overnight to arrive in Puerta Escondido this morning! We went to a hostel called Hostal a la casa which was recommended by Lonely Planet (yes, I can hear you all groaning already but we hadn´t learnt our lesson!)
