The schools in Hoogeveen held their own version of "De Vierdaagse" ("The Four Days Event") - a four day walking tour held every year in Holland (in Nijmegen). We had planned to do the real thing, but could not register in time to participate.

... of wind turbines. We fell asleep to the whir of the turbines and what we think were the calls of the cuckoo birds.

Today we cycled the remaining 10kms into town and cycled past our elusive campground. We refilled our waterbottles & continued onto the last town before the German border.
