... to rain. It didn’t but nor did the wind let up. It was howling off Lake Superior when I got there and the waves were crashing onto the shore. Nothing placid about it! Anyway, I found a spot about 1/2 an hour north of Duluth to hunker down for the night.

Got back home yesterday. I can't even begin to tell what a great adventure it has been. The Mouse performed without missing a beat and everybody got along as we should. We'd like to thank all the people who encouraged us along the way. At every stop we made the interest in what we were doing was astounding. We had a delightful dinner of BBQ'd ribs (recipe and made by my cool new brother in-law and family) for dinner, with salad and corn.

Conrad and i had a bit of a giggle once we went to bed as the beds were rather short and the poor guy had his head and feet touching the bed posts!!

... up past midway falls to upper falls, then across another bridge and along the stone wall back to the park entrance. The falls (and there were several of them) are really pretty. They would probably be gorgeous if we hadn't had so much rain because it caused them all to turn brown.
I (as usual) took a ton of photos so now I have to go through and figure out what I am going ...

I found a jewel of a state park.

I drove across the Mackinac Bridge and west across the Upper Peninsula thinking I would like to stop at the Seney Wildlife refuge and then maybe stop at Picture Rocks . Of course, I forgot that that both are run by the national government so everything was closed. So I forged on thinking I would stop at the Porcupine's Mountain State Park, one of my favorite hiking spots ...
