      ... ferries left, is Piraeus. I believed I had a fall back position of water taxi should there be a ferry problem. In my defence, I twice sent emails to the hotel asking for the recommended ferry and received no reply to either. So, after paying 35 Euros each for our 6 checked suitcases on Aegean Airlines, we made the short flight without incident.       ... a hill over 700 feet high. The ambitious can climb 850 to 1000 steps to reach it, (stories vary), but didn't count because we took the bus! It was built by the Venetians during the late 17th Century. Naturally it has a magnificent view of the city and the harbour. But for us, Nafplion was mainly the port from which we took a bus trip to the ancient city of Mycenae. To reach Mycenae we drove past acres of citrus orchards and through hills in the land ...

      Our trip begins tomorrow and we are so excited.  I walked to the grocery store today to pick up something to cook for dinner (since our fridge is now officially empty) and I ran into a few friends (and a wonderful aunt) who were just so excited for us and shared with me how special they feel this trip is and how they were looking forward to following us via the blog as we travel.  I smiled my whole walk home thinking ...
