... We stopped by Madison to give Jared his slack line, and to introduce him to Migizi. After visiting with him over dinner at Applebee's, we hit the road for the last leg or our trip.

We arrived home at 1:00 a.m., after 15 and 3/4 hours (a little slower than usual this year due to our sit-down dinner with Jared). Although it’s always sad to leave Cass Lake, our "home away from home," it’s still nice to be back to our ...

... Trying to decide who is 1/4" taller than who is a bit tricky, especially on uneven grass. We eventually managed to line all the kids up in front of the lake, and the adults all lined up like the Paparazzi opposite them to take photos.

We finished packing, settled up with Tony (ouch! two weeks cabin and boat rental is a chunk of change!), and played a little Shanghai before going to bed. Ahhh....tomorrow we go home.

When I was shopping in Walker on Monday, I picked up some "Heartland Trail" T-shirts for Tom and me, since we had both been biking portions of the trail. My shirt said "Forty-nine miles" on it, and stirred within me the idea of meeting that challenge. ... in time for our taco supper. Later in the evening, we heard that Seth and Maddie had made it home safely, and after getting a battery jump on her car from our helpful neighbor, Maddie was on her way back to Hudsonville. I spent some time visiting with Mom and Dad at their cabin, and gave Mom a refresher course on how to play solitaire. Then Tom and the kids (Jared, Leah & Chloe) joined us at Sah-Kah-Tay for some ice cream to finish off our night.

... public during our vacation last year.

Our 14 mile bike ride had worked up our appetites, so we headed home for supper. Tom had filleted 6 of our 8 fish for me to add to our Jambalaya for supper. It was delicious! The evening was spent relaxing and Deb & I had a nice visit. Seth called around 11:00 p.m. He & Maddie had made it home safely, which was a relief to hear. The forecast for tomorrow is rain, so it looks like it might have to be a Walker day!
