This site is not as nice as Mathews Arm just up the road. Sites not as private and smaller and not as nice. Would recommend staying at Mathews Arm if you are deciding!

A well kept campground with full time mowing crews AKA Rabbits. Also great walk in camp sites to a real camping experience.

This park was well-used and tired. We had to try two sites to get something level enough so we could even camp. Quiet and peaceful and several short hikes nearby, by car. I'd stay there again, just because the drive through the park is so beautiful.

So the fun starts here , having left Gettysberg we head south to Shenandoah national park (Skyline drive ) via a Walmart super store to buy camping equipment to see us through 7 days of tenting it. Our first camp site is Big Meadows camp ground but wont pitch camp till we have had a wee tur , Corben Cabin loop , then we can relax.

We have entered what I like to call "the shin". This national park is gigantic. The land was originally owned by over 49 private land owners, now spread with hiking trails, parks and Skyline Drive with about 50 beautiful overlooks into the Appalachian Mountains. The area changes a bit demographically as in, the people are country…talk a …

Two hour drive into VA - everyone up and in the bus in time. UVA tour by a nice volunteer. Lots of cool traditions (yes, they dress up for football games - guys in ties, girls in pearls. Bustling campus in a lovely town Favorite school so far for many: university of Richmond. Beautiful grounds and buildings. Amazing liberal arts with pre-professional training. Large campus for a 3,000 undergraduate population ...
