"Daniel Boone was a man, Yes, a big man! With an eye like an eagle And as tall as a mountain was he!" Pop on your Coon skin hats as we spent the next three nights at the home of Daniel Boone, or at least where the TV show was shot. Big Bear Lake has also seen the TV shows like Bonanza, Old Yeller and who could forget Paint your Wagon, the film that shot Lee Marvin to musical stardom with his rendition of "I was born under a wandering star." ...

... Of course it was quite a cram to get it all into Jess!!

Then back onto the I10 and head into LA 100+ miles of I10 but it was a doddle really, the traffic wasn't as bad as we were told. So early into Santa Monica so took a cab to Hollywood Boulevard to go see the weirdos, then back to Venice to meet fellow Lost Adventurers for last night meal and beers!!

... Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Wind has become a factor in our overall comfort level so we don't plan on doing a whole lot other than preparing for Christmas Day and going to Mass in the evening. A lot of folks here at the Sands plan to travel in order to visit relatives for the holidays, others stay put. We will be attending the Christmas Day Potluck being held in the Oasis Hall right here at the resort with about 50 other folks.

... being alone and just listening to things other then people talking or music blaring that calms me down. I actually have done the full hike before, all the way from the base at 430 feet of elevation up to 10,800 feet and it took us about 15 hours to do. Started at 3 in the morning in the pitch black and getting to the summit by late afternoon didn't make it the most enjoyable hike but something I definitely consider a neat experience to say I have done. This time however ...

... I found a new sense of adventure so I was excited to see a new place I haven't seen before. Even though it was slightly overcast it was still so beautiful. On our way there, we went to this AMAZING Mexican restaurant and I want to go back. When someone ordered fish, they served it head and all. You don't find very much of that in Orange County. So we drove through the area and Barbara shared some of the history of where she grew up and how people such as Frank ...
