Here we are at Howard Springs. It doesn't seem like six weeks since we left home, the time is going too quickly. The caravan park has changed to what we remembered, it appears a lot larger and busier than last time. Our sites is quite large with plenty of shade. It should be good for our stay. We are here for the next ten days.

Heading into Darwin this morning, had a look around shops, then went to the air museum. Later in afternoon went yo Mindil Market, got there early so wandered around as they finished setting up. Oysters at the market for dinner. We got back and sat chatting with 3 other couples we were going to be on the road for between 12 and 24 months.....

Another day around Darwin, then to the wharf for a dinner on the Charles Darwin touring the harbour. While waiting on the wharf Harry spotted a large shark and a couple of his mates cruising the pylons, not the place for a swim

Last day

A travel blog entry by j-h-ontour on Jun 24, 2014

Last day in Darwin. Found a hairdresser for a bit of hair maintenance. I think the lady did a good job. Then some groceries, washing, van cleaning, last swim, dinner at Howard Springs tavern and we are ready to head off first thing in the morning.

Wonderful greeting when we arrived, grassy , shady sites. Choose your own site. The new amenities block has motel-style bathrooms that are just lovely.

We were put right in front of the water splash park. It runs on a 5 minute timer but it has water guns, a big bucket that tips out 10 litres of water every minute.

The front, older part of the park provides lots of cool shade under palm and other trees. Checking service was good. There are a range of transport option available to different activities, such as Casino, Mindil market, etc. You can wash your vehicles at your site which was a must in my case

A lovely park with great staff, always willing to help. It is very busy but that is to be expected as it is the height of the tourist season and school holidays. The only problem is down the back of the park the ammenities block is made up of individual ensuite style toilet and showers which are lovely and clean and great to have a shower in however always full and a pain when you just want to go to the toilet. Lots of lush gardens and trees, the gumnuts falling on the van during the night is a bit noisy.

Nice and shady with 2 pools. Amenities reasonable. Not so good when it rains! 800m to village; ten minutes to Palmerston. Being south of the city (30km) you are already on your way to many attractions.
