Pleasant site location. convenient on route. Fairly quiet for high season. major disappointment: toilets and wash facilities not to the normal high Swiss standards.

... as we'd heard big positives about it, specifically its architecture. When first arriving, it didn't impress on us too much, but by the time we had to leave it had certainly grown on us. We stayed at a campsite within riding distance, just, to the city centre, so after establishing we hopped on the bikes and off we went. Over the next two days we cycled around the town looking at some of what we thought were the better and more interesting sights, in addition to the ...

      Grand Tour - Alps

Leaving Lake Maggiore at 9.10 am, pausing only to buy warm bread at the local shop, we were soon on our way along the lakeside road, sharing it with what seemed like a thousand Sunday morning cyclists. The view was more stunningly beautiful on leaving it than when we arrived there last week and a pang of sadness entered my being! We were ...

After a day of excessive heat yesterday we went to the small restaurant on site for our anniversary dinner, we both settled on Alpine herdsman macaroni, which was for all the world rather like macaroni cheese but with onions, cream and potato added. Very nice until we came to pay and they do not accept debit cards however the very trusting waitress said we could pay the next day with Swiss francs once we had ...

The journey was amazing as we passed along the motorway with terraces of vines rising to our left and down to our right. Lake Leman stayed with us for much of the journey and we passed Evian of mineral water fame. Superlatives fail me as the views exceed all expectations, we agreed it was a perfect way to spend our ...

... When we came down from the Schilthorn, the weather was surprisingly a lovely 65 and sunny. We hiked an hour from Murren to the neighboring town of Gimmelwald and ate our convenience store picnic lunch of bread, cheese, and bologna with a gorgeous view of the Swiss Alps. The second leg of our trip, from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg, was supposed to take about an hour but the steep incline, picture taking, and lack of clear directions on the paths ...
