The fog had rolled in early, and it was a few shades colder.
Brit had been so successful with our air conditioning that she had got very cold in the night and I woke to see just a huge pile of pillows on her bed which she had covered herself with to keep warm.

I never understand why one is provided with at least 4 massive pillows, a bolster and a fancy cushion, with, of course, that entirely superfluous bed scarf thing which lays across the bottom of the bed. What is that ...

... it looked fancy and expensive and frankly we were not really in the mood. So we found a nice little place in town called Wild River Brewery & Pizza, and surprisingly the food was pretty good. I had the spaghetti and Italian sausage in a marinara sauce, and Jody had smoked salmon ravioli in a cream sauce. Both were excellent!

... lovely, and we learned about the history of the caves as well as those involved in finding them. To say that some of the men made some very unusual (and stupid) choices is giving them too much credit. The founder went in beyond the number of matches he had and it took him three hours to come back out in the complete darkness (he used the sound of running water to make his way back out). ... down so all was well. I am spending the night in Grants Pass, OR. There are several wildfires out of control around here. That is the reason I drove a couple of hours in smokey fog. The air here is smokey and the sun is orange. You cannot see the tops of the mountains due to the smoke.
