... to find that we are in the Rogue Valley. We will probably be set upon by vagabonds and footpads when we leave the hotel. The hotel is charming and we have a gorgeous view from our room on to the river.

I am surprised that Barbara didn't mention the calamity that befell me earlier in the trip. I bought a lovely and expensive picture in the big city but forgot to bring it with me when we got on the bus. That's right: I left my art in San Francisco....

... in two (2) days – really not bad considering that we had to load 150+ boxes and some heavy antique furniture. Anyway, we’re here at the Peppermill Casino and Spa in Reno.
Our room looks like it’s from somewhere in Tuscany with the ornate furniture ...

... through the US we now enjoyed their card holders discounts which were sometimes quite big. On top of that we rate Safeway supermarkets well ahead of their Walmart competition, the former being generally better laid out, cleaner, with
slicker check outs and a far wider selection of food items. That said, we still haven’t tracked down Marmite in either company’s stores! We will persist. Weird, especially as many of the Walmarts list Marmite on their web sites, ...

... to the Pacific coast in
Cresent City. It was gorgeous weather, hardly a cloud in the sky. The water seemed to glisten with the sun reflecting on it. We tried to go to the visitor’s center for the Redwood Forest, but again it was closed. We found a sandy stretch to walk along and wrote some messages in the sand.
