Good town spot to stay

by (1 review) , Australia Flag of Australia

Very nice and accommodating managers, nothing seems too much trouble.
Great bathrooms, individual rooms. Yeah traffic and town noises during the day, you are in the centre of town but you are right on the harbour with incredible views.

We stayed in the adult section right on the harbor with views of the passing boats.

Just a bit noisy

The site is in the middle of town, so it was very convenient for walking to all the various destinations. The people were very friendly, and the facilities were clean and adequate. Our vehicle opens at the back so they were very accommodating about finding us the right site. Lots of smaller RV's seemed to be staying there so the unisex bathroom usage was quite busy. I just didn't sleep for the 2 nights that we stayed there because the noise of the traffic seemed to go on for a large part of the night... Powerful engine noise. Don't kow if it was just one particular vehicle going around and round, on that particular night, or if big engines are the general mode of transport, and cruising over the weekend a normal pastime! I don't think that the other RV sites would have been any better noise-wise as they are all in the centre of this gorgeous and historic little town.

Saturday May 20th; Tok AK => Valdez, Alaska +++++ Our drive today was going to be shorter, lots shorter than the previous 4 days where we'd averaged 400/mi a day. It was only 250mi to Valdez Alaska! So all of us took our time Saturday morning, ate a nice breakfast, a hot shower and that last cup of coffee(YUM!). We topped off our gas tanks, $2.97/ …

We're not tiring of these highways, it's road porn all the way, thousands of miles of page turning magic including the best centrefolds. Yes a few dud articles in this travel rag but overall …

We arrived in Valdez on Thursday 18 August. It was a beautiful drive from Palmer. This drive is known as one of “America’s Most Scenic Roads” and there were breathtaking views of glaciers, waterfalls, mountains and incredible scenery. Valdez is located at the head of a fjord on the eastern side of Prince William Sound and is the …

This morning we drove through Glennallen and then south to Valdez on Prince William Sound. When we were just coming into Glennallen there was a cow moose with two calves standing next to the road. All of the moose we have seen have been cow moose and calves; we are still looking for that first bull moose.
Next we stopped at the visitor center …

Sunny two days in Valdez and Columbia Glacier

We arrived in the port city of Valdez on a warm sunny day. We had planned to stay at the Blueberry State Park on Thompson Pass but it was closed due to snow. Unfortunately we drove into the park and had to unhook the car and do some RV maneuvering to get back on the Ric******* highway. We camped at Bear Paw adult section RV park where we got a site …
