Just a bit noisy

The site is in the middle of town, so it was very convenient for walking to all the various destinations. The people were very friendly, and the facilities were clean and adequate. Our vehicle opens at the back so they were very accommodating about finding us the right site. Lots of smaller RV's seemed to be staying there so the unisex bathroom usage was quite busy. I just didn't sleep for the 2 nights that we stayed there because the noise of the traffic seemed to go on for a large part of the night... Powerful engine noise. Don't kow if it was just one particular vehicle going around and round, on that particular night, or if big engines are the general mode of transport, and cruising over the weekend a normal pastime! I don't think that the other RV sites would have been any better noise-wise as they are all in the centre of this gorgeous and historic little town.

We arrived in the port city of Valdez on a warm sunny day. We had planned to stay at the Blueberry State Park on Thompson Pass but it was closed due to snow. Unfortunately we drove into the park and had to unhook the car and do some RV maneuvering to get back on the Ric******* highway. We camped at Bear Paw adult section RV park where we got a site …

Think I mentioned we decided to spend a second night here in Valdez even before we had barely settled in. Today proved to be a bit of a lazy day which is just fine in light of the weather change. We awoke to some rain and not much view of the magnificent mountains we had all around us yesterday. The rain didn't amount to much so we all headed out …

... make it to Bill and Charlyne's cabin on Lake Louise. We just started driving north with no real set destination and decided we'd see where the weather took us. At first we couldn't see much. As we entered the Chugach area there were several pullovers that the Milepost said to be sure to stop at and take pictures - at most we only saw fog. We did see a few beautiful waterfalls and gorges. As we got to Copper Valley the weather ...

Later in the evening Tanya wanted to take me round to the other side of the harbour to see the Hatchery, on the way we stopped to see where the salmon come to die after spawning. The first time Tanya saw this she wanted to save the salmon until Anna, then aged 6, told her that this is what they have to do.!

We never made it to the Hatchery as the van began making a bad sounding noise (actually it had made a knocking noise all the time Tanya ...
