Airlie Beach- now this is good
This is nice..... arrived at the Big 4 Adventure park and was greeted by a magnificent entry foyer. Is is a caravan park or hotel? Drive to site and the kids are going off. Huge pool with two slides, jump pillow, huge outdoor theater, mini golf, tennis, basketball court and more. We set up and the kids go to look around. Go for a look around Airlie …
Day 48 Bowen to Airlie Beach
We were travelling a whole 70kms today from Bowen to Airlie Beach so we didn't have to rise early. Once we were packed we headed off down the Bruce Highway and into Airlie Beach. Our first glimpses of Airlie Beach were of the marina full of yachts and cruisers, beautiful blue water and islands in the distant background. We had arrived too early to …
Day 49 Airlie Beach - Whitsunday Islands
Up early this morning as we were being picked up at 7.00am and taken to Airlie Beach Marina for a day out sailing on the Tall Ship the Derwent Hunter. Built in Tasmania in 1946 the Derwent Hunter has performed many rolls over the years including the starring role in the late 60's early 70’s TV show "The Rovers". For those who grew up in this …
Day 50 - Airlie Beach
Today was a fairly quiet day after our big day out yesterday sailing and snorkelling. The kids spent all of the day enjoying the great facilities here at the caravan park including the jumping pillow, mini golf and the resort pool with waterslide. This would have to be one of the nicest and well laid out caravan parks I have stayed at. It is a …
Day 51 - Airlie Beach
We had to be up at 5.15am this morning as our transfer bus was picking us up at 6.15am to take us to our Cruise Ship. Once on board we headed out through the Airlie Beach Marina and enjoyed a light breakfast of yogurt, ham and cheese croissants and a coffee. A very nice way to start the day. We briefly stopped off at Daydream and Hamilton Island to …

This place is kept to the highest standards and feels like being in a tropical resort. After 10 months in campgrounds in Canada, Africa, New Zealand, and elsewhere in Oz, we've not found any other campsite quite like this. We've been here 8 nights and wish we could stay longer! The pool is splendid!

This park was beautifully landscaped. The service was spectacular. The park and facilities were well kept and clean. There were so many amenities and options for kids. It was truely like a little caravan resort.

The camp is as you'd expect for a Big4 family park. The facilities are brilliant and clean, but best of all... the pool has water slides! Perfect for big kids like us!

A lovely place to stay, fabulous facilities for kids, good sized sites and beautifully kept gardens and roads. The amenities were adequate, a little older and smaller that we expected, after being greeted by the beautiful resort style front desk. The staff were all freindly and professional.
