It was a pleasant ride climbing the mountains leaving Estes Park behind. It had not long broken the dawn and a beautiful Elk was standing on the verge road-side, he looked at us as if to say we disturb his peace. Just down the road from Frisco is a Colorado Scenic Byway that covers about 100 miles. It goes from I70 south to Leadville and then north back to I70 by a different route. We then short across I70 to Vail and then back on home.

... mile week long race through Colorado. Most of the race is at elevations of 9000 to 11000 feet and some even higher. Todays leg came from Aspen thru Twin Lakes down to Buena Vista and then back up another range to Breckinridge. I'm guessing well over 100 miles of hills.
